The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Movie Review)
The Return of the King is a stunning conclusion to the trilogy, and the extended edition adds so much more depth to the story. An epic adventure of good against evil, a story of the power of friendship and individual courage, and the heroic quest to pave the way for the emergence of mankind.
The soundtrack, background, narrating and lore is exceptional.
Frodo, of course, wouldn’t have made it all the way to Mount Doom without Sam—he’s truly the backbone of the duo, always there to pick up the pieces when Frodo is at his lowest. I absolutely hate Denethor—he’s such a frustrating character, and Faramir’s tragic arc makes me feel so bad for him, especially during the battle of Osgiliath where they just get slaughtered.
That one line at the end, “You bow to no one”, was such a powerful moment in the film. I definitely got a little emotional in that scene. The Return of the King (Extended Edition) is a masterpiece that brings the epic story to a satisfying end.
